California Parole

The Associated Press-- A parolee has pleaded guilty to felonies for a 10-day Northern California crime spree that ended with the kidnapping and murder of a popular Vietnamese radio talk show host.

By Louisa Hufstader, Napa Patch-- Tyrone Garcia, 28, was arrested Tuesday after state corrections officials contacted Napa police to say he was in violation of his parole, which was monitored by a GPS ankle bracelet, according to a police log entry.

Realignment

By Matt O'Brien, Contra Costa Times-- Two top Contra Costa leaders -- Richmond's police chief and the county sheriff -- are clashing over a plan to use state money to expand the West County Jail, which holds county inmates but is also the Bay Area's only overnight federal immigration detention center.
